FAQ
Your questions answered here.
General
Are Town Autobody and ProTown Autobody the same company?
Yes. Town Autobody and ProTown Autobody are sister shops under the same ownership, offering the same MPI-accredited collision repair services from two Winnipeg locations, 64 Salter St and 146 Isabel St. So you can choose whichever is more convenient.
Which location should I go to?
Either location can handle your repair, both are MPI Direct Repair facilities offering the same services. Choose whichever of our two Winnipeg locations, Salter St or Isabel St, is closer to your home or workplace, or call ahead and we’ll recommend the faster option based on current scheduling.
Do you repair all vehicle makes and models?
Yes. Both locations repair all makes and models, from everyday domestic and import vehicles to specialty and luxury cars, using manufacturer-specification repair procedures and computerized paint matching to restore your vehicle to pre-accident condition.
Do I need an appointment, or can I just walk in for an estimate?
You’re welcome to walk in at either location, though calling ahead ensures a technician is available to look at your vehicle right away. For MPI claims, we recommend calling first so we can confirm your claim number and Direct Repair eligibility before you arrive.
Insurance & MPI Claims
Is your shop accredited by Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI)?
Yes. Both Town Autobody and ProTown Autobody are fully MPI (Autopac) accredited Direct Repair facilities in Winnipeg, meaning we’re approved by Manitoba Public Insurance to assess damage, write estimates, and complete repairs on your claim without you needing a separate MPI claim centre visit for most jobs.
Do I have to pay a deductible for MPI-approved repairs?
Your deductible depends on your Autopac policy and coverage, not on which shop you choose. As an MPI Direct Repair facility, we handle the claim paperwork directly with MPI and will confirm your specific deductible amount, if any, before repairs begin.
Can I choose your shop, or does MPI assign me one?
You can choose us yourself. Manitoba drivers have the right to select their own repair facility for an MPI claim, you are not required to use a shop MPI or a dealership recommends. Just provide your claim number and we’ll take it from there.
Do you handle the insurance paperwork for me?
Yes. As an MPI accredited Direct Repair shop, we manage the claim documentation, communicate directly with your adjuster, and keep you updated at each stage so you don’t have to juggle paperwork on top of being in an accident.
Will you provide a rental or courtesy car while my car is being repaired?
Yes. We offer a free courtesy car with service, and rental cars are available for customers with loss-of-use coverage on their Autopac policy, so you’re not left without a vehicle during the repair.
Do you offer a free collision repair estimate?
Yes. both locations provide free estimates for collision and auto body repair. Bring your vehicle in or call ahead to arrange a time, and we’ll assess the damage and walk you through the recommended repair.
Collision & Auto Body Repair
How long does collision repair typically take?
Repair time depends on the extent of the damage and parts availability, and can range from a few days for minor bumper or panel work to a few weeks for major structural repairs. We’ll give you a realistic estimate at drop-off and keep you updated if parts delays affect the timeline.
Will the paint match my car exactly?
Yes. We use computerised colour-matching technology to blend factory paint codes precisely, so the repaired panel matches the rest of your vehicle seamlessly, even on metallic or pearl finishes.
Can you repair a damaged bumper instead of replacing it?
In many cases, yes. Our technicians assess whether a bumper or fender can be safely repaired rather than replaced, which can save you hundreds of dollars while still meeting manufacturer safety standards.
Do you offer ADAS calibration after a repair?
Yes. We provide ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) calibration, which is required after many collision repairs on modern vehicles to ensure features like lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, and adaptive cruise control are recalibrated to work correctly.
Do you offer frame straightening for major collision damage?
Yes. We perform frame straightening, panel replacement, and structural repair for significant collision damage, restoring your vehicle’s frame to factory specifications so it drives and performs safely.
Glass, Hail & Additional Services
Do you repair or replace windshields and auto glass?
Yes. We offer auto glass and windshield repair and replacement using OEM-quality materials, and most glass claims can be billed directly to MPI so you don’t pay out of pocket at the shop.
Do you repair hail damage?
Yes. We specialize in hail damage repair using paintless dent repair (PDR) and other restoration techniques, working directly with MPI to process hail claims efficiently while preserving your original factory paint.
What should I do first if my car is hit by hail or damaged in a collision?
Report the incident to MPI to open a claim, then call either Town Autobody at (204) 421-1300 or ProTown Autobody at (204) 421-1302 with your claim number, we’ll handle scheduling, the estimate, and the paperwork from there.
Is there a warranty on the repair work?
We stand behind our workmanship at both locations. Ask our team for the specific written warranty terms that apply to your repair, as coverage can vary by the type of work performed.
